Candidate for Mayor of Kennett Square 2025
Since October of 1976, I have enjoyed directing choirs in a variety of configurations and settings. Considering this, I believe there is a correlation between choral conducting and the social divide in today’s world, with a lesson to be drawn from the former for the latter. Allow me to explain.
Choirs thrive on division as they often include soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voices. Each voice part has its own melody and rhythm. Once the individual parts are learned, something magical happens when they are performed together. It’s called harmony! That is what listeners find aesthetically pleasing. In the context of choral music, harmony is literal. It is fundamentally required, and very real!
I believe in a harmonious Kennett Square, a place where, as people, our like image and commonality are recognized, and where respect for everyone is common practice. Much like a choir, our town will perform at its best if we practice celebrating its generational, ethnical, and political diversity.
The motto for this campaign is paraphrased from the Pledge of Allegiance and reads, “One Community, Under God, Indivisible.” May our song be one of harmonious humanity.
On November 4th, 2025, vote for someone who knows our community inside and out and will fight to keep Kennett Square the special place we all treasure.
As a community, we need to find ways to help facilitate the citizenship process for residents who desire to become U.S. citizens. A focus group of interested residents might help provide a start to the process. I'll work to make sure our communities are safe for all residents, regardless of their legal status.
Before any redevelopment of this site, there must be documentation that ensures that 100% brownfields remediation, either through cleanup or containment, has transpired. Additionally, future development must be based on the community's needs, and I'll exercise my veto power if necessary on any action that fails to do so.
Membership in the Regional Fire/EMS Commission is critically important for the wellbeing of our community. I will encourage the borough council to vote for reinstatement in the commission while paying close attention to how to responsibly reduce the cost of membership.
Oversight of the police department is the primary responsibility of the mayor, and funding for staffing, training, and equipment is critical to police operations. I will unwaveringly support funding for our officers and push for more community policing.
